Ferry Delay

Your ferry has been delayed? You have the right to be compensated!!!


For sure, the cases of prevention of ships from leaving, cancellation or change of itinerary, and delay are less recurring than those of flights; however, in such situations the passenger should not remain without protection.

In fact:

- In case of PREVENTION OF SHIP FROM LEAVING for reasons NOT attributable to the carrier, the passenger is entitled to a refund of the ticket.


- In case of PREVENTION OF SHIP FROM LEAVING for reasons ATTRIBUTABLE to the carrier, the passenger is entitled to a refund of the ticket.


- In case of CANCELLATION OF DEPARTURE OR CHANGE OF ITINERARY, the following can be distinguished:

a) If the trip CANNOT be made with any other ship belonging to the carrier, which departs later, the contract is terminated and the passenger is entitled to a refund of the price paid and to compensation for damages.

b) If the trip CAN be made with any other ship belonging to the carrier, which departs later, the passenger has the right to make the trip on one of the ships or to terminate the contract in the following cases:


- Trip lasting less than 24 hours, if delay exceeds 12 hours.


- Trip lasting more than 24 hours, if delay exceeds 24 hours for trips between the ports of the Mediterranean.


- Trip lasting 24 hours, if delay exceeds 48 hours for trips with departure or arrival outside Europe or countries bordering the Mediterranean.
